Beta: Taski is in beta. The service is provided "as is" without warranties. See section 12 for details.
1. Acceptance of terms
By using Taski (the "App", the "Service") the user accepts these Terms of Service. Anyone who does not accept them must not use the App. The terms apply to all platforms: iOS, Android, Apple Watch, Web, Desktop (macOS/Windows).
2. Service description
Taski is an instant messaging application that provides:
- End-to-end encrypted 1-1 and group chats
- End-to-end encrypted voice and video calls
- Media sharing (photos, videos, voice notes, documents, location, GIFs, stickers)
- Live location sharing in 1-1 chats (iPhone and Android)
- Location on request for trusted contacts ("Trusted contact", iPhone)
- Urgent and silent messages
- Ephemeral stories (24 hours)
- Optional AI assistant (TaskiAI inline in chats with other people + dedicated "Taski AI" chat with the chatbot, including voice calls and image generation)
- Multi-device synchronization
- Encrypted iCloud backups
- Optional paid subscription Taski Plus (see 9.7)
3. Requirements for use
- Minimum age: 16 years. Minors under 16 cannot use Taski.
- Valid phone number: required for verification via SMS or voice call.
- Contact list: contact list synchronization is required to start new 1-1 chats (see 9.2).
- Legal capacity: the user must be legally able to enter into a binding contract.
- Compatible device: iOS 17.6+ for the iPhone app; Android 8.0+ (API 26) for the Android app; modern browser for the Web client.
4. User account
4.1 Registration
To create an account a valid phone number must be provided. The user is solely responsible for the accuracy of the information provided.
4.2 Account security
- The user is responsible for the security of their device and credentials (SMS codes, passkeys, backup passwords, Face ID/Touch ID).
- The user must notify us immediately in case of unauthorized access to the account.
- App lock with Face ID/Touch ID/passcode can be enabled for additional protection.
- Linked devices can be viewed and revoked from Settings at any time.
- The account is active on only one primary phone at a time. Activating it on a new phone requires approval from the primary phone, or the passkey, the anti-SIM-swap PIN or assisted recovery (identity verification with a photo of an identity document). When the account is activated on the new phone, the previous one is signed out. The user must approve sign-in requests only if they initiated them personally.
- If sign-in on the new phone takes place without transferring the keys from the old one (PIN, passkey or assisted recovery), the account starts over with new keys: messages not yet delivered and history not saved in a backup cannot be recovered.
4.3 Phone number change
The number associated with the account can be changed from Settings. The old number will be released and may be used to register a new, separate account.
4.4 Account deletion
The account can be deleted at any time from Settings → Delete account on the primary phone (iPhone or Android); for security reasons, deletion cannot be requested from Web or Desktop. Anyone who no longer has access to their phone can regain access through account recovery or write to [email protected]. Deletion is irreversible and entails the removal of the associated data (profile, server-side messages, active public keys, contacts, sessions). For the reasons set out in Data subject rights, the following are retained: the entries in the public append-only Key Transparency log, Taski Plus transaction records dissociated from the account and, in the event of a ban, the block on the phone number. Messages already delivered to recipients remain on their devices. Deleting the account does not automatically cancel the Taski Plus subscription with Apple (see 9.7).
5. Acceptable use
The use of Taski is subject to our Acceptable use policy, which includes prohibitions on:
- Illegal content (CSAM, credible violence, incitement, etc.)
- Spam, phishing, scams, pyramid schemes
- Harassment, hate speech, doxxing
- Infringement of third-party intellectual property
- Attempts to compromise the security of the service
- Bots, automation, unauthorized scraping
Violations may result in temporary suspension (7-day soft ban) or permanent ban. For confirmed CSAM and serious cases, the ban is permanent and includes the phone number.
6. User content
6.1 Ownership
The content the user sends (messages, media, profile) remains the user's property. Taski does not claim any rights to it.
6.2 Minimum license
To allow us to provide the service (message delivery, synchronization, backup), the user grants us a limited, non-exclusive, free, revocable license, only for the duration necessary for the technical functioning of the service. We cannot read the content of E2EE messages.
6.3 Content responsibility
The user is solely responsible for the content sent. The user must comply with applicable laws, third-party rights, copyrights and trademarks.
7. End-to-end encryption
Taski uses E2EE (X25519 + AES-256-GCM) for chats, calls and media. Not even we can decrypt user content. This also means that:
- We cannot recover messages lost due to device loss, local deletion, or user error.
- If the iCloud backup password is lost, we cannot help recover it.
- Private keys remain on the user's devices and are never accessible to us; they leave the phone only end-to-end encrypted to the new device during an account transfer.
Taski also employs Key Transparency (a public, verifiable log of public encryption keys) and independent verification via an external witness, so that clients can detect any covert key substitution. Details, including the data transmitted to that service, are described in the Privacy policy.
8. Third-party services
Taski relies on Cloudflare (infrastructure), Apple (iOS push, Location Push, maps, App Store), Google (Android push via Firebase Cloud Messaging), Twilio (SMS and verification voice calls), Agora (calls), Anthropic (TaskiAI text), OpenAI (AI stickers, TaskiAI image generation and retouching, chatbot realtime voice), Tavily (web search in voice calls with the chatbot), Giphy (GIFs), OpenStreetMap (maps on Android). The use of Taski implies acceptance of these providers' policies for data strictly necessary for the related services. See Privacy → Third parties for details.
9. Optional features
9.1 TaskiAI
AI assistant that can be disabled, available in two modes: inline (@TaskiAI in 1-1 chats with other people) and dedicated chat (private conversation with the "Taski AI" chatbot, including voice calls and image generation and retouching on request). Use shares the conversation context with Anthropic Claude and — only on explicit request — with OpenAI for images, photo retouching and voice. Anyone who asks TaskiAI to retouch a photo must have the right to do so: in inline mode, the photo may have been sent by the other chat participant. See TaskiAI policy.
9.2 Contact list synchronization
To match contacts, the app synchronizes only cryptographic hashes (HMAC with pepper) of phone numbers and email addresses. Plaintext numbers and addresses are never sent. To prevent spam and the harvesting of phone numbers, a new 1-1 chat can only be started with people in the synchronized contact list or with whom the user already shares a group; it is always possible to reply to anyone who has already written.
9.3 Stories
Ephemeral feature (24 hours). The media (photo/video) is end-to-end encrypted: the server cannot view its content. Engagement metrics (views and "likes") are visible to the server in cleartext, as they are required for counter functionality and the viewer list. Replies are 1-to-1 end-to-end encrypted messages.
9.4 Music status
Optional sharing of the currently playing track (Apple Music or Spotify). Can be disabled in Settings.
9.5 Live location
- The user may share only their own location, with people who wish to receive it. Using the feature to locate another person without their knowledge is prohibited, for example by leaving or hiding a phone on or near them (see Acceptable use policy).
- The route received remains on the recipient's device until the recipient deletes it: the sharer cannot withdraw it. The sharer must take this into account before starting to share.
- The location depends on the phone's GPS and network and may be inaccurate, delayed or interrupted. It must not be used for emergencies or for purposes where an error could put people or property at risk: in an emergency, contact the emergency services (112).
9.5-bis Trusted contact (location on request)
- By making a person a trusted contact, the user allows that person to ask at any time where the user is, even when the user is not sharing their location: the phone replies on its own, even when locked, with the point where it is at that moment. How it works and which data is processed is described in the Privacy policy.
- Trust must be granted freely, by the account holder and on their own phone. It is prohibited to obtain it through pressure, threats, blackmail or deception, to enable it on another person's phone without their knowledge and agreement, or to use it to control a person against their will (see Acceptable use policy).
- Trusted contact is not a surveillance tool: it must not be used to monitor employees or contractors or, more generally, to control people beyond what the law allows. Taski is reserved for users aged 16 or over and is not a parental control service.
- The person who receives trust may ask for the location only within the set limits (one request every 5 minutes, at most 20 in 24 hours) and must not disclose the location received without the consent of the person concerned. The located person is alerted by a notification for every location sent, if Taski notifications are allowed on their phone.
- Trust can be revoked at any time, but a point already sent remains on the requester's device: the person who sent it cannot withdraw it.
- The reply depends on the person's phone (switched on, connected, with the "Always" location permission) and on GPS: it may be missing, inaccurate or delayed, and "Not reachable" does not in itself indicate a problem. It is not an emergency service: in an emergency, contact the emergency services (112).
9.6 Urgent messages
Urgent messages can break through the recipient's Focus modes, depending on the recipient's settings. They should be used only for communications that genuinely require immediate attention; the app allows at most one urgent message every 60 minutes per recipient. Using them to disturb or harass is prohibited.
9.7 Taski Plus (paid subscription)
Taski's basic features are free. Taski Plus is an optional subscription that raises TaskiAI usage limits (see the TaskiAI policy) and unlocks additional features (for example advanced AI stickers, themes, animated wallpapers, alternative app icons and profile badges). The features included are shown on the purchase screen.
- Purchase: Taski Plus is purchased in the iPhone app through the App Store; the payment contract is with Apple and the App Store terms apply. The price, including applicable taxes, and the duration (monthly or annual) are shown before the purchase is confirmed.
- Free trial: if offered, the free trial (e.g. 3 days) is available according to Apple's eligibility criteria. At the end of the trial the subscription automatically converts into a paid subscription, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the trial.
- Automatic renewal: the subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the price then in effect, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before expiry. The amount is charged by Apple.
- Cancellation: from the Apple ID settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions) or from Taski → Settings → Taski Plus → Manage subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for, until which the Plus features remain active. Deleting the Taski account or the app does not cancel the subscription.
- Right of withdrawal and refunds: consumers resident in the EU have the right to withdraw within 14 days of purchase under Articles 52 et seq. of the Italian Consumer Code (Legislative Decree 206/2005). Since payments are handled by Apple, withdrawal and refund requests are made through Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com), according to its procedures. The statutory warranty rights for non-conforming digital services remain unaffected.
- Fair use: where the purchase screen indicates "unlimited" use, reasonable limits still apply to prevent abuse and automated use; the limits in force are set out in the TaskiAI policy.
- Account and platforms: the subscription is tied to the Taski account with which it was purchased, cannot be transferred to another account and applies on all of the account's platforms. It cannot currently be purchased on Android, Web or Desktop.
- Changes: during the beta phase, Taski Plus features and limits may change. Material changes to the detriment of subscribers will be communicated in advance; in that case the subscriber may cancel the subscription and, where provided by law, withdraw at no cost.
10. Service updates
We may update the app, modify or remove features at any time. We will do our best to:
- Maintain backward compatibility during key rotations.
- Notify significant changes in advance.
- Allow data backup before relevant changes.
Desktop client updates are automatic and cryptographically signed.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate user access to the service if:
- The user violates these Terms or the Acceptable use policy
- The use compromises the security or stability of the service
- We are required by competent authorities
For soft bans (7-day auto-reversible) and permanent bans, see the Acceptable use policy. The user always has the right to appeal to [email protected].
12. Limitations of liability (Beta)
Important Beta notice. Taski is in beta. The service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including (without limitation) warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, error-free operation, continuous availability, data integrity.
During the beta phase user data may be deleted without notice for technical, maintenance or development reasons. Critical information should not be shared via Taski until the stable version is released.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, in no case shall Taski be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential damages, loss of data, loss of profits or opportunities arising from the use of the service.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for willful misconduct, gross negligence, or for what is not allowed to be excluded by law under applicable Italian and European regulations (including the GDPR).
13. Indemnification
The user agrees to hold Taski (and its founder) harmless from any claim, damage or expense arising from use of the service in violation of these Terms, the Acceptable use policy or applicable laws.
14. Intellectual property
The "Taski" trademark, the logo, the app design, the client and backend code are the property of Stefano Bigioggero. Copying, distribution or creating derivative works without written authorization is prohibited.
User-generated content remains the user's (see section 6).
15. Changes to terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated via:
- In-app notification
- Update of the "Last updated" date at the top of this document
Continued use after the changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. Anyone who does not accept the changes must stop using Taski.
16. Dispute resolution
Any disputes will be resolved under Italian law. For consumer contracts, the consumer's forum applies pursuant to art. 66-bis of the Italian Consumer Code (Legislative Decree 206/2005) — that is, the court of the consumer's place of residence or domicile. For any other disputes, the competent court is that of the place of residence of the data controller, except for mandatory provisions of law to the contrary.
The consumer remains free to turn to the competent alternative dispute resolution (ADR) bodies. The European Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform was discontinued by the European Commission on 20 July 2025 (following the repeal of Regulation (EU) No 524/2013) and is no longer available.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by Italian law and applicable EU regulations (including the GDPR — EU Regulation 2016/679).
18. General provisions
- Entire agreement: these Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Acceptable use policy, constitute the entire agreement between the user and Taski.
- Severability: if a clause is declared invalid, the remaining clauses remain in force.
- Waiver: failure to exercise a right does not constitute a waiver of it.
- Assignment: the account cannot be transferred to third parties without authorization.
